Meet the Maya Mountain Team
Our staff is like family and they will make you feel the same way. We pride ourselves on putting you first and making sure this is your best vacation ever. Just let us know what you need and we値l be glad to help. We also specialize in being family friendly - you often find a staff member teaching a young guest about local bugs, culture, animals or getting a band-aid for a scraped knee.
OUR GUIDES
Our guides are known for their extensive knowledge or Belizian culture, nature, history and friendliness. Often they will pull the tour van to the side of the road to point out some rare bird or an unusual sitting. Some of our guides are humorous and some are more serious but they are all friendly, caring, helpful, fun, and ready to help make your experience unforgettable. So ask them your questions, advice about the best photo spots, and let them give you the experience of a lifetime.
MEET OUR LODGE STAFF
Melody
At the front desk, you値l meet Melody. Her family has been working in tourism for over 20 years. From check in to tour activities and information and from laundry to assisting with an international call, she値l help you to arrange for everything you need at Maya Mountain.
Emily
Emily is our talented office manager. She is a trained accountant and handles also reservations. She loves marimba music and participates in indigenous activities in support of her cultural heritage .
David
David is our senior cook. He had worked for Maya Mountain for 7 years previously then went off to the Frances Ford Copula Hotel System for 8 years. In November he asked to rejoin our staff.
We are happy to have him back.
Mercy
In the kitchen, you値l meet Mercy. Originally from Salvador, she was a bread baker before she came to Maya Mountain. After arriving in our kitchen, she rapidly learned to cook Maya Mountain style and took over the kitchen with her excellence in both taste and presentation. You値l enjoy meeting her and asking her questions about your favorite Maya Mountain recipes. I知 sure she値l share a few with you.
Carlos
Carlos is one of our waiters. He loves to experiment with your juice, creating new and interesting recipes from the freshest fruits and herbal and black teas. He is very flexible and willing to do almost anything.
Maura
Maura is our housekeeper. She also helps in the laundry area and sometimes in the kitchen. She has twin daughters in high school!
Angel
Angel is our Mayan gardener, grounds keeper, and driver. Angel maintains his own private nursery at his home in the village of Bullet Tree.
Anastacio
Anastacio is our staff driver. His interest in human rights has led him to become involved in leadership training, service-oriented projects, and activities.
